I have Becker and was diagnosed at age 5. My form of Becker is thankfully relatively mild but I know many of the same struggles living with a chronic condition that can be unexpected. I have also engaged muscular dystrophy as a researcher. As a Fulbright scholar, I studied exon-skipping therapies for Duchenne, an approach based on Becker. It is my hope that people with Becker can move past barriers, especially in employment, and involve themselves as scientists and clinicians. Overall, I wish for a more accessible world for people with many different abilities, including people with Becker.
